Viewpoints that earn the climb

Barcelona is built as a series of terraces, which means a short climb buys an enormous field of view. These are the spots where the geometry of the Eixample grid reads best.

Bunkers del Carmel

The reference point for a reason: a 360-degree terrace on an old anti-aircraft battery with nothing between you and the sea. Come at sunrise, when the light arrives off the water and the crowds have not woken up.

The MNAC steps

The broad staircase in front of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya frames the skyline straight down the avenue. It costs nothing, the walk up is gentle, and blue hour is the peak time.

The Montjuïc castle terrace

A properly high platform with a clean view along the full length of the coast and the port below it. Late afternoon puts the sun behind you, which is exactly what you want for the city.
